I am a proud product of the Buhler public school system. I received degrees from Hutch Community Junior College, Washburn University of Topeka, and Washburn University School of Law.
I engaged in the private practice of law for six years before being appointed a Judge of the District Court of Reno County in 1981. I retired from the bench in 2007. I was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012.
I am married and have a married daughter and two grandchildren. I continue to reside on the family farm near Buhler where my father and I both grew up.
I am a member of and active in the Buhler Mennonite Church.
